Raw steel production slides to 1.17M tons

U.S. raw steel output logged its 17th consecutive drop last week, falling 1.2 percent to 1,168,000 tons from 1,182,000 tons the previous week as mills operated at an average capability utilization rate of 49 percent.

In the corresponding week last year, mills produced 2,102,000 tons at an average capability utilization rate of 88.1 percent, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute, Washington.....
