Ameristeel contract worker dies reassembling furnace

A contractor was killed Tuesday at the Charlotte, N.C., mill of Gerdau Ameristeel Corp.
The Tampa, Fla.-based steelmaker said the worker was in the process of reassembling a furnace that was being serviced. Another worker also was injured in the incident, according to local reports, which quoted fire department officials as saying that the second individual's....
