Copper scrap draws few takers at 80¢/lb.

Copper scrap offered by the U.S. Defense Department drew a few takers above the 80-cent-a-pound mark on Tuesday, but most transactions were below 70 cents a pound.

Turnings, shavings and discs went for 96 cents a pound in Alabama. Clean bronze and brass at the same base went for 89 cents a pound in bidding via the Web. The per-pound values are calculated to include an automatic 10-percent fee when the sale actually occurs.....
