N. American aluminum stocks soar

North American aluminum production is not slowing as quickly as demand, which has caused aluminum stocks to skyrocket, according to the latest statistics from the Aluminum Association, Arlington, Va.

Primary aluminum production in the United States and Canada in November was at an annual rate of 5,603,972 tonnes, down 1.7 percent from the previous month's annual rate of 5,702,327 tonnes and 3.1 percent below the 5,781,819-tonne rate in November last year. Actual production in the first 11 months of this year totaled 5,312,182 tonnes, up 3.2 percent from the same period last year. ....
