Century slates layoff of 13% of salaried and Ky. site staff

Century Aluminum Co. will lay off 13 percent of the salaried work force at its Monterey, Calif., headquarters and its Kentucky operations as part of its cost-saving efforts, the company said.
"Given the unprecedented recent decline in aluminum prices, we have no choice but to aggressively explore every opportunity to reduce our costs across the company," Logan W.
