Horsehead halting zinc recycling for week

Declining domestic steel production has prompted Horsehead Corp. to shut its zinc recycling facilities for the last week of 2008 and revise construction plans for its new South Carolina electric furnace dust facility.
The Pittsburgh-based zinc recycler also said it will permanently reduce its salaried work force by 12 to 15 employees, and about 20 temporary workers and consultants also will be let go. The cutbacks will result in annualized savings of $2 million.....
