Columbia Falls to halt aluminum production

Columbia Falls Aluminum Co. notified its workers Tuesday that it will be curtailing all production at its Columbia Falls, Mont., primary aluminum smelter in 60 days.

The notice was issued as part of the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, which guarantees worker payments for 60 days, but the company could decide to stop production before then. The closure will lead to the layoff of about 200 employees at the plant.....
