PolyMet gets draft EIS for NorthMet

More than three years and $18 million after beginning its environmental review and permitting process, Canada's PolyMet Mining Corp. has received a draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) assessing its proposed NorthMet copper, nickel and platinum group metals project near Hoyt Lakes, Minn.
"Receipt of this final review copy of the draft EIS is a major milestone for PolyMet," Joseph Scipioni, president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. "While we have been frustrated by how long it has taken to reach this milestone, we believe that the MDNR has produced a comprehensive document that thoroughly analyzes the potential impacts of the project."....
