US heavy melt exports low but steady

U.S. exports of No. 1 heavy melting steel scrap in October almost matched the tonnage shipped overseas the previous month, although sales to Turkey, the largest overseas buyer of cut ferrous scrap, plunged to a three-and-a-half-year low.
Shipments totaled 288,060 tonnes in October, according to the latest statistics from the U.S. Commerce Department, a mere 15 tonnes below the 288,075 tonnes exported in September but the lowest one-month total since October last year, when No. 1 heavy melt exports sagged to 236,435 tonnes.....
