Wis. scrap theft may form part of bigger ring

A November theft of 42,000 pounds of brass rod borings from United Milwaukee Scrap LLC by an unauthorized truckdriver with detailed knowledge about the pending shipment is almost identical to a 2007 episode in Indiana, raising concerns that the two incidents could be linked.
The earlier crime is believed to be one in a carefully planned series, according to Alex Gross, an executive vice president with Northern Indiana Metals LLC in Whiting, Ind, the victim in the 2007 case. ....
