Yet another 787 delay clouds titanium’s view

Despite an unprecedented order book for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner that only grew larger as 2008 came to an end, program delays on the new plane continue to cast a cloud over the New Year's outlook for titanium.
Air New Zealand Ltd. said it expects to receive the first of its 787-9s in early 2012 rather than late 2010 as it initially expected. In Auckland, an Air New Zealand spokeswoman confirmed that the postponement is related to an earlier 787 program delay announcement by Chicago-based Boeing.
In December, for at least the fourth time, Boeing pushed out 787 deliveries, this time to the first quarter of 2010 from the third quarter of 2009. This move, accompanied by a management restructuring at its Boeing Commercial Airplane unit, marks a delay of about two years from its original schedule.....
