The purchase of scrap processor OmniSource Corp. by Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI) underscores the importance of being diversified into raw materials, Stanley A. Rabin, chairman of Commercial Metals Co. (CMC), said Tuesday.
The deal could increase the perceived value of a company like Irving, Texas-based CMC, which has long embraced a strategy of diversifying upstream, downstream and globally, he said. "It's those various parts that have created value for the company,....
