UAW leaders back GM labor deal; vote slated for Oct. 10

United Auto Workers union local leaders have unanimously approved a tentative four-year labor deal with General Motors Corp., Detroit
The union didn't immediately disclose details of the agreement, but widely published reports suggest the contract includes signing bonuses and voluntary buyout packages and a moratorium on outsourcing. It also is said to include provisions for 1,500 new hires, increased health and safety protection and other benefits worth more than $13,000 over the life of....
