A380.1 prices inch up on higher silicon costs

The spot price of secondary smelters' A380.1 ingot edged slightly higher during the past week.

The range now stands at $1.08 to $1.09 a pound, up from $106.50 to $1.08 previously. One large producer was quoting above that range, but market participants interpreted that as signaling disinterest in one-shot deals under present conditions.

A smelter that reputedly was suffering from silicon indigestion said that a brief transportation difficulty involving silicon had been garbled by rumors.....
