Aleris returns to black, logs $3.5M in quarterly net income

Aleris International Inc. returned to profitability with net income of $3.5 million in the third quarter on a 19.3-percent gain in sales to $1.66 billion vs. the year-earlier quarter, when it logged a $24.2-million loss.
Shipments of rolled and extruded aluminum products totaled 596 million pounds, up 17.9 percent from the third quarter last year, while zinc shipments fell by 12.1 percent to 86.9 million pounds.....
