US ferrochrome prices climb on supply concerns

U.S. ferrochrome supply contracts could hit record levels in 2008 as global supply remains tight and South African producers raise prices to make up for the falling value of the U.S. dollar, market sources said.
Traders said they expect next year's contracts to be significantly higher as supply falls short of satisfying increased stainless steel demand.
"Producers are licking their chops in advance of 2008 contracts," a trader said. "People are just starting to inquire now and we should see business start locking up around mid-December."....
