Xstrata unit begins study of $40M Altonorte moly expansion project

Xstrata Plc's North Chile division has launched a feasibility study into more than doubling molybdenum production at its Altonorte metallurgical facility in La Negra, Chile.
The $40-million expansion, first disclosed this summer, would involve the refurbishment of a second molybdenum roaster at Altonorte and the construction of a molybdenum leaching plant, increasing the facility's molybdenum processing capacity to 28,000 tonnes a year from 12,000 tonnes currently.....
