Consol’s Buchanan Mine sealed under mandate

Consol Energy Inc., Pittsburgh, won't begin mining metallurgical coal from its Buchanan Mine in Virginia until after the first of the year, the company said.
Buchanan will be sealed as mandated as a final step prior to re-entry in order to ensure that the mine atmosphere is inert and can't catch fire. Based on assumptions....
