‘Green’ theme to dominate OECD meet

Environmental issues will take center stage at the next meeting of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Dec. 3-4 in Paris.
Topping the agenda is a discussion of environmental challenges confronting the steel industry as well as a review of world steelmaking capacities and subsidies, among other issues.
The U.S. industry, which will be represented by officials from the American Iron and Steel Institute, the Steel Manufacturers Association, Nucor Corp., U.S. Steel Corp. and ArcelorMittal USA, will present a paper on greenhouse gas emission trends in North America, a government source said Tuesday.
