Century switches on expansion at Nordural

Century Aluminum Co., Monterey, Calif., said that its wholly owned subsidiary in Iceland, Nordural ehf, has energized the cells of the 40,000-tonne expansion at its smelter in Grundartangi, Iceland.

This latest expansion brings the rated capacity of the smelter to 260,000 tonnes per year. In October last year, Century completed a 130,000-tonne expansion that raised the smelter's capacity to....
