FPT mulling Ohio site as backup scrapyard

Ferrous Processing & Trading Co. (FPT) is eyeing a former lumber yard in Ontario, Ohio, as a backup yard for steel scrap clips from General Motors Corp.'s nearby Mansfield stamping plant.
Executives from FPT's Cleveland unit have persuaded the Ontario Planning Commission to recommend a rezoning of the site so that the former lumber yard can be used as an alternative outlet for steel scrap from the auto plant, according to a local news report. The city council is expected to consider the rezoning request at its meeting in January.
The vacant property is currently zoned for business, but must be rezoned for industrial applications before FPT can use it. ....
