SSAB says prize helping advance growth in AHSS

Svenkst Stal AB (SSAB) is looking to beef up advanced high-strength steel (AHSS) production and development, identified as the key to its 18-percent annual volume growth in that area over the past several years, company executives said at the 2007 Swedish Steel Prize presentation in Stockholm.
Olof Faxander, president and chief executive officer of the Stockholm-based company, and Goran Carlsson, executive vice president and head of its strip division, said the annual prize—$15,700 given to a group or individual making significant contributions to the growth and development of AHSS—is just one way it promotes growth of what is largely a niche....
