Chinese copper smelters concede TC/RC talks aren’t proceeding well

China's top copper smelters have conceded that negotiations on 2008 copper treatment and refining charges (TC/RCs) could be settled at below $45 a tonne/4.5 cents a pound.

Sources at two major Chinese smelters said negotiations aren't going well after rejecting demands from overseas mining giants for a cut of a third or more from this year's rate of $60/6 cents.....
