Fired brass ammunition increases to $2.39/lb. in military scrap auction

A $1.55-million winning bid for fired brass shells to be generated over a 12-month period valued the material at $2.39 a pound.

Similar material for immediate pickup averaged $2.17 a pound at a military auction in mid-November, down from $2.27 in early November.

The year-ahead material will become available at Fort Benning, Ga. The per-pound value includes a 10-percent surcharge that winning bidders must pay to Government Liquidation LLC, Scottsdale, Ariz., a Defense Department contractor that runs the online auction platform.....
