G&S furnaces back in operation following blast

G&S Metals Inc., the Wabash, Ind., secondary aluminum smelter sidelined by an explosion last week, said its operation in Manchester, Ga., was back up and running Thursday.

The electric-induction unit was melting scrap and a gas-reverberatory furnace was being prepared to accept material by mid-afternoon.....
