SeverCorr ramp-up hits fast lane as coating line starts

SeverCorr LLC has begun operations at its advanced coating line, marking an end to the mill's year-long phased start-up, the company said Thursday.
SeverCorr has ramped up production rapidly in recent months, with rolling capacity expected to hit 100,000 tons a month in the first quarter of 2008, the Columbus, Miss.-based steelmaker said Thursday.
The advanced coating line will eventually have galvanized or galvannealed capacity of 450,000 tons a year, SeverCorr said. It will handle a variety of products, including commercial (CS Type B), drawing (DS Type B), deep drawing and extra-deep drawing steels. It will also handle structural and high-strength, low-alloy steels.....
