Alcoa secures power for Wash. smelter

Alcoa Inc., Pittsburgh, has received approval of a 17-year power agreement for its Wenatchee, Wash., aluminum smelter that will allow the company to increase production.

The new agreement takes effect Nov. 11, 2011, when the current contract expires, and runs through October 2028. It grants Alcoa about 25 percent of the hydropower produced from the Rocky Point and Rock Island dams.....
