Alloy scrap fetches $9.37 a lb. in military auction

An auction of military scrap deemed equivalent to Inconel 625 alloy attracted a top bid of more than $2.68 million, pricing the material at about $9.37 a pound.

The material at the Anniston Army Depot in Alabama was listed as Inconel, a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy label that is a trademark of Huntington Alloys Corp., Huntington, W.Va. The online bidding went into overtime by more than an hour before other competitors dropped out.....
