Kobe Steel opens $31.3M titanium melt shop

Kobe Steel Ltd. has rounded out the upgrade and expansion of its various titanium facilities with a new melt shop that is due to reach full production in January.
The Japanese producer has inaugurated a 3.5-billion-yen ($31.3 million) melting facility at its Takasago Works in western Japan that will carry out trial operations this month. The capacity of the new facility, which is next door to Kobe Steel's current melt shop in order to "stabilize production and improve the operation efficiency of both shops," was not disclosed.....
