Hazards alleged at prison e-cycling workshop

The electronics recycling workshop at a federal prison in Elkton, Ohio, releases dangerous levels of lead and cadmium whenever air filters are replaced in ventilation equipment, according to a report from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The study was requested by the Justice Department's Office of Inspector General following a federal prison employee's complaints about recycling practices at a similar prison workshop in California (AMM, June 15, 2005.)....
