Wise Metals trims quarterly loss, sees shipments drop

Wise Metals Group LLC posted a third-quarter loss of $25.7 million, more than half the year-earlier $53.9-million loss, on sales that declined 12.3 percent to $244.8 million.

Can sheet customers reducing inventories were cited as the primary cause for a 20-percent decline in shipments in that category. Shipments of other sheet products were off by 36 percent. Wise Recycling showed an upward tilt, with scrap shipments increasing 31 percent.....
