Aluminum premiums soften in spotty holiday market

U.S aluminum premiums have softened slightly in patchy year-end trading as the market turns its attention to next year.

The Midwest spot ingot premium has fallen a quarter cent to a range of 3 cents to 3.75 cents per pound from a previous range of between 3.25 cents and 4 cents per pound.

One trader, who described the market as cautiously bullish with some year-end weakness, put the premium between 3.25 cents and 3.75 cents.....
