Former Refco lawyer handed an indictment

The former lawyer of Refco Inc. has been indicted for allegedly conspiring with executives of the defunct New York-based futures and commodities brokerage to commit fraud.
It came the same day that former Refco executive vice president Santo C. Maggio pleaded guilty to committing securities fraud, wire fraud, bank fraud and money laundering. Maggio, who also was chief executive officer of subsidiary Refco Securities LLC, also pleaded guilty to making misstatements to auditors and false filings to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. He is scheduled to be sentenced May 9.....
