MELTING POT Home for Christmas

Daniel R. DiMicco and his staff at Nucor Corp., Charlotte, N.C., are playing Santa and his elves this holiday season.

Nucor and a Denton, Texas-based subsidiary, NuconSteel Corp., which specializes in steel framing for residential and commercial applications, donated a steel-framed house in Decatur, Ala., to Habitat for Humanity. The contribution means Donna Underwood and her four children, ages 8 to 14, get a home for the holiday. "Owning a home is a dream come true, but Nucor has made it more than I could have ever imagined," she said. "They have added so many of their own touches to it just because that's the way they want the house to be." Site manager and Nucor employee Roger Handley told local reporters that the structure represents the local Habitat chapter's first steel-framed house and Nucor hopes to sponsor additional Habitat houses featuring even more steel components.....
