Alcoa strikes power agreement for Massena smelters

Alcoa Inc., Pittsburgh said Friday that it had struck an agreement with the state of New York and the New York Power Authority (NYPA) on a renewable energy contract to supply the company's aluminum smelters in Massena, N.Y.
The deal opens the way for Alcoa to invest about $600 million in modernizing and upgrading its two smelters at Massena and will see it boost capacity to 274,000 tonnes per year and reduce emissions by more than 70 percent.....
