‘Ghosts’ get new takers as Marad awards pacts for 5 vessels

The Maritime Administration (Marad) has awarded new contracts to dispose of five Ghost Fleet vessels—four anchored along the James River in Newport News, Va., and one from the Beaumont Reserve Fleet in Texas.
The four from the James River Reserve Fleet had all been under a contract with North American Ship Recycling Inc. (NASR), Sparrows Point, Md., which ceased operations before it could take possession of the ships.....
