Nucor inks deal with Horsehead to process dust

Horsehead Corp. plans to build a new facility to process electric furnace dust from Nucor Corp.'s three steel mills in North Carolina and South Carolina, the Monaca, Pa.-based company said.
Horsehead intends to build and operate a new regional recycling facility near Nucor's plants in the Carolinas. Nucor operates three steel mills in those states—a sheet mill in Berkeley County, S.C., a bar mill at Darlington, S.C., and its Hertford, N.C., plate mill.
"We are excited at the prospect of expanding our relationship with Nucor and delivering on our plan of recycling expansion," Jim Hensler, Horsehead's president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. "The construction of this new dust recycling facility will allow us to service a larger share of a valued customer's business in a more cost-effective fashion while further reducing the cost of our feedstock materials."....
