Siemens replaces BOF converter at Russian mill

Siemens Metals Technologies, Linz, Austria, has replaced and started up a basic oxygen furnace converter and off-gas treatment system for Russian steel producer Nizhny Tagil Iron & Steel Works in Sverdlovsk Oblast.
The work was completed in 75 days, 15 days fewer than stipulated by the contract. The project is part of a major modernization program in which Siemens will replace three more BOF converters....
