Contract customers accept Sandvik strip hikes

Sandvik AB, Sandviken, Sweden, has completed its contract business, with price increases implemented in November now fully accepted by customers.

The company cited soaring raw materials and manufacturing costs for price increases of up to 20 percent on all forms of stainless steel strip used for making razor blades (AMM, Oct. 25).

The increases, which went into effect Nov. 1, marked the first in a number of years, the company said, adding that it had previously been absorbing higher raw material, fuel and energy costs without adjusting prices to end-users.....
