Turkey drives No. 1 heavy melt scrap exports down

Turkey's imports of No. 1 heavy melting steel scrap from U.S. suppliers plunged in October, hitting the lowest level seen in the past year and a half, but moderate increases in the tonnage delivered to several other nations helped offset that drop.
Shipments of No. 1 heavy melt totaled 236,435 tonnes in October, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Commerce Department. That is down 8.3 percent from 257,748 tonnes in September. It also marked the third month in a row that exports of this bellwether grade of cut ferrous scrap declined.....
