Problems delay ramp-up at Comalco refinery

The ramp-up of Rio Tinto Plc's Comalco Alumina Refinery (CAR) near Gladstone, Queensland, has fallen behind schedule because of pump problems.
It is unclear how long it will take for the problems to be rectified, and a spokesman for Rio Tinto aluminum subsidiary Comalco Ltd. based in Brisbane, Australia, said the full impact on the 1.4-million-tonne-per-year project is not known.
