Tower’s unions approve pacts; Ch. 11 exit eyed

Auto parts maker Tower Automotive Inc., Novi, Mich., will withdraw its bankruptcy court requests for cancellation of its labor contracts following the ratification of new agreements by the United Auto Workers union and the United Steelworkers union.
Negotiations between the unions and Tower, which filed for Chapter 11 protection from creditors in February 2005 (AMM, Feb. 2, 2005), had been closely watched because they were seen by some as paralleling intense and still-ongoing labor talks at larger Delphi Corp, Troy, Mich., which filed for Chapter 11 protection last October (AMM, Oct. 11).....
