Atlantic Scrap, CRG linking up in southern US

Carolinas Recycling Group LLC (CRG) and Atlantic Scrap & Processing LLC have reached an agreement to merge the two companies into a scrap powerhouse that will handle more than 1.2 million long tons of ferrous scrap and 230 million pounds of nonferrous scrap annually.
No financial details were disclosed. The companies said in a statement that the transaction is expected to close by the first quarter of 2007.
The merger will create a scrap processing company that will employ more than 500 people and operate 16 locations in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. In addition to the array of trucks, balers and shears, the combined companies will operate five shredders in the region.....
