Scrap availability to continue rising ELG exec

Simon Merrills had a bit of bad news for his fellow scrap processors at a recent gathering.
"Since the beginning of the second quarter, scrap availability has increased and we expect that this tendency will continue during the coming months," Merrills, president and chief executive officer of ELG Metals Inc., McKeesport, Pa., said. "Extraordinary nickel prices and strong demand from stainless steel (producers) stimulate scrap collection, particularly from demolition projects."
Merrills' warning was presented Sept. 21 at the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries' nickel and stainless steel roundtable in Pittsburgh.....
