Small changes, no major moves seen in aluminum scrap pricing

Aluminum scrap prices are showing no broad movements despite a few scattered adjustments to obtain tactical advantage.
One smelter is quoting several cents higher for cast than for sheet to curtail buying of shredded vehicle aluminum by substituting yard-grade castings.
If exporters were hungry for cast, the savings from such a gambit wouldn't be worth it. However, demand from Asia is currently soft. Also, a facility choosing that strategy must gear up to handle many small purchases from yards rather than a few large shipments of auto scrap.....
