Brass ammunition scrap pulls in $2.34/pound

The top-winning bid for brass ammunition scrap auctioned for the U.S. Defense Department was $2.34 a pound Tuesday, down from $2.42 a pound in an auction Oct. 17.
This time, however, many of the other transactions for similar material were clustered at nearby values, so the dominant trend was actually upward.
The merchandise descriptions aren't standardized, so calculating an average requires some judgment calls on which lots to include.
With that caveat, the apparent average value for brass ammunition scrap was $2.18 per pound this week versus $1.82 a pound in mid-October.....
