Two US e-cyclers take their know-how south

Two electronics recyclers in the United States this week announced plans for Mexican offshoots.

Electronic Recyclers International Inc., Fresno, Calif., said it is teaming up with Burillo Azcarraga Group, an investment entity for one of Mexico's major entrepreneurial families. The U.S. company describes itself as the largest participant in the electronic recycling program mandated by California, with projected 2006 throughput there of 50 million pounds.

Electronic Recyclers will supply the technology and Burillo Azcarraga Group will contribute $15 million toward a plant that eventually will be able to process 120 million pounds a year, according to the announcement.....
