High-temp and aerospace alloys featured in latest military auction

Offerings of unsegregated high-temperature and aerospace scrap, many featuring titanium alloys, fetched between $2.50 and $6.96 a pound in an online auction of U.S. Defense Department material that ended Tuesday.

Arguably comparable lots went for more than $7 a pound recently, although the unsegregated nature of the material makes it difficult to define similar offerings over time.

The per-pound values are calculated to include a 10-percent premium that winners must pay to Government Liquidation LLC, a Defense Department contractor based in Scottsdale, Ariz., that runs the online auctions.....
