Shredded scrap exports plunge on Asian buying lull

Offshore demand for U.S. shredded scrap plunged by 49.1 percent in September as shipments to most major ferrous scrap-importing countries in Asia fell sharply.
Exports sagged to 193,019 tonnes in September from 379,265 tonnes in August, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Commerce Department, helping to slow the year-to-date pace by 19.9 percent compared with the first nine months of last year and 12 percent vs. the same period in 2004.....
