Globe mulls duty appeal as silicon prices firm

Silicon prices have firmed slightly as the market remains nervous about 2007 supply, in spite of the fact that Brazilian companies may now export to the U.S. market free of anti-dumping duties.
Although traders said they expect Brazilian exporters to target the U.S. market on the back of the U.S. International Trade Commission's revocation of the duties, announced Nov. 15, the move was too late to impact the silicon pricing picture for next year. Most silicon is sold in the United States via annual contracts.....
